I never even knew this and I’ve fed bread to ducks multiple times! D: Definitely reblog this so everyone knows!

POOR DUCKS OMG.
I PROMISE TO NEVER EVER FEED YOU BREAD EVER.

Okay, this is wrong on one of its three points, and I cannot stand when people don’t do their research, especially when a wikipedia search will tell you otherwise.
Botulism doesn’t form in water.  It’s actually pretty much not possible for it to form in water.  The Botulinium toxin can only form in anaerobic (or low-oxygen) environments, when already present in whatever substance such as bread.  If bread could give ducks botulism, it would damn well be infecting humans long before it got to the ponds.  The fact that the bacteria has to be present means it can’t be “created” as it decomposes.  Between the absence of Botulinium, and the presence of oxygen in water, botulism from bread has a pretty low risk.
That being said, bread is bad for ducks — it doesn’t have the nutrients waterfowl require, and it attracts other vermin, which in turn can attract other wild animals like foxes, badgers, and opossums, which can all turn into pests in a hurry.  If you need to feed the ducks, things like what are mentioned in the infographic are good to use.

Are you ok? I hope so stay safe!!!!

I’m actually out in the Midwest, but I lived in Maine for the better part of a year, and a lot of my followers live in the New England region, so I’m worried about them all.  ;-;  I’m fine, just scared to death.

These are good numbers to have, but right now, DO NOT USE YOUR PHONES if you’re in Boston, especially near Copley Place!  The police have confirmed that certain functions such as cell phones can potentially set off more explosives.  If you have to communicate, use text messaging, and stay away from the blast areas (Copley Place and JFK Library)

IMPORTANT: My former roommate in Boston just called MGH and they said that they have enough blood on hand for the tragedy today, but will need blood in the coming week to replenish. Please don’t rush to the area yet, as it’s more imperative that the police continue scanning the area for potential threats.

However, MGH is taking blood donation walk-ins beginning tomorrow at 7 AM. That would be the time to go donate.

Boston Marathon Explosions

Hey followers.  I know quite a few of you live in the New England area in general, with at least a handful of you in Boston and the surrounding areas.  If I haven’t already contacted you, please please please get in touch with me somehow.  I’m worried sick, and too far to just hop in someone’s car and drive down to find you.

For those not in the know, earlier today there were two explosions in the city of Boston, Massachusetts — one at the finish line set for the Boston Marathon near Copley Place, and the other at JFK Library.  There have been two confirmed fatalities, and somewhere in the twenties for injuries.  The police have a “person of interest” being held at one of the hospitals with severe burns, but no details beyond that have been released.  Supposedly (and this is all things I’m hearing through Facebook and Tumblr) they’re still finding explosives on the marathon route.  They’re also supposedly encouraging people to stay away from the subway, so if you have to travel in or around the city today, please stay safe.

If you live in the area, even if we’re not super-close, please let me know you’re okay.  I don’t have reliable ways to contact everyone, so please keep me updated, through any method you have.

Please signal boost if you can! (I don’t have many followers right now aha)

I’m sorry I keep reblogging this, but I really need the money. If I can’t raise the money to fix my sewing machine soon, I may wind up losing the costume commissions I have lined up at the moment.

Hey guys, I know I’ve posted this a couple of times before, but Liz could REALLY use the commissions.  That bit about her costume commissions?  That’s also kind of a huge thing, and believe me, she needs the money a hell of a lot more than I did.  Even if you can’t afford to buy art from her, please signal boost, as she already goes without food sometimes.  :c
