Your name is DAVE. You are a 21-year-old displaced MIDWESTERNER living in MAINE. You like HOMESTUCK, among other things, and you are an ASPIRING WRITER and POSSIBLE POLITICIAN.
Things are a little confusing for you right now, but that doesn't mean you bite when people contact you.
Among your many FAULTS, chief among them is crippling GENERAL SOCIAL ANXIETY, a condition you have suffered from since you were very young. You also have SCARS INSIDE YOUR LUNGS, which contribute to your MULTITUDE OF BREATHING PROBLEMS.
Despite all that, you like to think you're a FAIRLY WELL-ADJUSTED PERSON. You enjoy COSPLAYING, and you attend several CONVENTIONS during the year. Your next one is ANIME BOSTON, in April. Of the conventions you attend, you help staff for ANIME NEBRASKON, typically with their TOP-NOTCH SECURITY TEAM, although you've also tried your hand at THE BEAGLES, also known as Mobile Information.
You quite enjoy getting messages in your in-box, anonymous or not, and you like to give advice, which is the point of this blurb: To encourage people to approach you, because approaching others first is not something you take on lightly.
What will you do?

John Egbert [ectoBiologist]: I'm going to go see if Tia's still awake, when I have the motivation to put a shirt on and go pee.
John Egbert [ectoBiologist]: That way someone in the apartment knows, too.
The Real John: okay
John Egbert [ectoBiologist]: (I can explain the whole shirtless/pantsless thing.)
The Real John: dude, i have only a towel, no need to explain
John Egbert [ectoBiologist]: ...touché.

I immensely admire the honesty with which you run your blog. It helps people.
My relationship with my dad is not something I feel a need to hide, exaggerate, or lie about. Sometimes, parents fuck up. It’s just a thing that happens.
It’s like I said, too, our relationship has vastly improved since I moved out, and he has helped me out of several very tight situations in the last six or seven months, which goes a long way toward me forgiving him for the bullshit I put up with when I did live with him.
As far as that goes, thank you for the comment. If even one person is helped by the things I rage and vent about, then I feel like I’ve done my job, not as a blogger, but as a human being. No one deserves to feel like they’re alone, so if people benefit from me being honest here, then all the more reason for me to keep doing it.
Our relationship has significantly improved since I left home. The biggest thing is, we’re not in each other’s hair to piss each other off anymore.
While I was living with him, though, it was a daily occurrence to get called “useless,” “fat,” “a worthless piece of shit,” and “a waste of time/energy/space/money/resources.” He has hit me on several occasions, leaving me with a black eye on two times I can recall. While I was still very sick, that year that I had bronchitis really badly, instead of thinking, “Oh, my firstborn child is sick, and only getting worse,” he would complain about how much it cost to send me to the clinic, because he basically refused to help me get insurance. Because of things like that that he’s done, I have a pre-existing condition, and it’s only because of the recent health care legislation that I can even look at other insurance options when I turn 26.
The point is, he was not a very good parent when I lived with him, and I had 21 years, more or less, of being told what a huge disappointment I am. I never got any encouragement, and when I actually lived up to his standards, I got no praise for it.
